Dining
Nashville is a foodie’s paradise!! Nashville
restaurants offer cuisine of every type to appease your taste
buds. From oven fresh pizzas and hamburgers to exquisite Italian
pastas and steaks marinated in spicy sauces, Nashville has it
all. So enjoy, and dig in!!
Elliston
Place Soda Shop
2111 Elliston Place Nashville 37203. 615-327-1090.
Is "Southern" considered ethnic food? If you aren't from the south,
it may seem, well, distinctly different. But even if you don't
want the fried chicken platter (available on Tuesdays and Saturdays),
you'll want to try the chocolate milk shakes at Elliston Place.
They're the best in town, and perhaps the best in the state. Price:
low to moderate.
Mediterranean Cuisine
400 21st Avenue South Nashville 37203. 615-321-8960.
You don't have to silence any lambs to eat here. Although meat-eaters
will find a wonderful array of spicy dishes (the stuffed grape
leaves wrap up a good sigh), vegetarians can feast too. Price:
moderate.
Chez Jose
2323 Elliston Place, Nashville 37203
615-320-0107.
A salsa bar like none other in the city, but these toppings are
just the tip of the tantilizing fare--you'll love the food here,
which not only tastes good, but claims to be "healthy." Low salt?
Low grease? It's hard to believe because it tastes so good. Price:
moderate.
Salathai
2016 West End Avenue, Nashville
615-340-0084.
This calm, cool restaurant near Vanderbilt offers some of the
freshest, spiciest authentic Thai food in town. You specify just
how hot you can take it (from one to four stars). Try the minty
stir-fry--it's a favorite. Lunch specials from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Monday-Friday.
Eddie George Sports Grille
Sure, it's a sports bar, but don't think rustic-with-peanuts.
A cobblestone floor (with manhole covers), high ceilings, and
neo-classical walls give it an uptown feel.
Real-estate novelists staying at the Hilton vie for space among
hip urbanites and good-ole sports nuts.
The usual wings-n-things share the menu with burgers, pizzas and
pastas. A nod to Eddie (besides his VIP room) is a big-honking
porterhouse, with a portion of the $39 pricetag going to his charity
foundation.
Wild Boar
Twisting classic French technique with imagination, this menu's
got game. While Perigourdine tastes come through in foie gras
and black truffle terrine with caramelized figs, the menu also
pairs a chestnut mousse with ranch-raised antelope tenderloin.
Pizza Perfect
Sports fans are sure to catch the latest event on Pizza Perfect's
TVs, and you can wash this all down with beer, available in bottles
and draft. Pizza Perfect doesn't deliver (we can't all be perfect),
but take-out availability makes it close enough to perfect for
most.
